Welcome to my very first episode of moviemanMDG's Movie Talk. This is a part of my blog where I talk about specific events that's been going on in the world of film, whether it's news, trailers, or conversations about older films. Not only do I love watching film, but I also love talking about them as well, especially to my family and friends. For today's episode, I'm going to be talking about something very special that you're all familiar with: Star Wars. Since its release in 1977, Star Wars (now known as Star Wars--Episode IV: A New Hope) is considered one of the greatest films of all time. The original trilogy has been beloved by many science fiction fans and movie lovers in general. The prequel trilogy? Ehh, not so much. Since Disney acquired Lucusfilm back in 2012, a lot of work has been put in to make a Star Wars sequel trilogy. But that's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about the final trailer of one of the most highly-anticipated films of 2015, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens", which just premiered during Monday Night Football.
The new Star Wars film does not have any plot details at this point, except the fact that it takes place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi. In case you didn't know, I was typing this blog during the football game, and as soon as the trailer came on, I stopped what I'm doing so that I can finally watch it and it was AMAZING!! Not only did it contain some new footage of the film, but it's also beautiful to look at in terms of the score and cinematography. Plus the way they show some action sequences was out of this world (no pun intended). I believe that Disney did a fantastic job at showcasing some new footage without 'spoiling' any plot details, although we still haven't seen Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker (weird…). There's this one scene in the trailer where the main antagonist, Kylo Ren (Adam Driver), talks about something like finishing what 'he' started. Based on what I saw, I think Ren was mentioning Darth Vader. I'm not sure if Ren is Vader's apprentice or something, but one thing's for sure, this guy is bad news. The final trailer for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" showcases the fact that Disney made a fantastic choice having J.J. Abrams as the director. It looks stunning, it sounds stunning, it even breathes stunning! Probably better than the last two trailers. Now the question remains: Will it be as good as the Star Wars original trilogy? Only time will tell when it hits theaters December 18th, 2015. Let me know in the comments what you think of the final trailer for Star Wars 7 and remember, may the force be with you.
