![]() "Burnt" stars Bradley Cooper, Sienna Miller, Uma Thurman, and Emma Thompson. Released on October 30, 2015, the film is about a chef who must rebuild his life and career in order to make his new restaurant a success. The film is directed by John Wells, who also directed The Company Men and August: Osage County. Bradley Cooper has been having a really good career in terms of comedy and earning a few Oscars for his drama films such as American Sniper and American Hustle. He's now looking forward to repeating that success this year with this film and the upcoming Joy. Unfortunately, this one doesn't seem to have the right taste. ![]() Pros: Good performances throughout, including Cooper as Adam Jones and Thompson as Dr. Rosshilde. Nice cinematography. The pacing is mostly consistent. Descent script. Cons: Predictable storyline with some cliches. Lack of emotional depth and character depth. Editing seems choppy at times. A few slow parts during the second act. Final thoughts: While it boasts a talented cast and its impressive cinematography, "Burnt" seems to have lost its flavor in the process. I love Bradley Cooper and I'm sure John Wells is a talented director, but in a world where films try to achieve Oscar glory, this film has to be more than just a well-known cast and a simple storyline. I appreciate the filmmakers for trying, though. If you're a fan of Cooper and/or a fan of cooking, this film may be for you. C-
