"Dirty Grandpa" stars Robert De Niro, Zac Efron, Aubrey Plaza, and Julianne Hough. Released on January 22, 2016, the film is about a young man who is tricked by his foul-mouthed grandfather into driving him to Daytona for spring break. The film is directed by Dan Mazer, who also directed the British comedy I Give It a Year. What better way to end the first month of 2016 with a raunchy comedy starring one of the greatest actors of all time and the young actor from High School Musical? I was originally planning on seeing it last weekend, but decided to wait for my mom because she wanted to see it too. Raunchy comedies tend to be hit and miss at times depending on people's tastes in humor. This film does have its moments, but it's still a miss in my book. Pros: Decent performances throughout, including De Niro. The humor was passable. A few of them were hysterical. The screenplay was OK. Cons: Some slow pacing. Its messages tend to be overlaid by some over exaggerated jokes. Weak and predictable storyline. A couple of secondary characters were a little annoying. Final thoughts: For a film that's about a foul-mouthed grandfather who likes to be turned on by a lot of young women, "Dirty Grandpa" just doesn't feel dirty enough. Like I said before, it had its moments, including De Niro's performance and some funny humor, but it had a hard time mixing its relatable messages, story, and raunchy humor together. I wouldn't say it's a bad movie. I would say it's a movie that didn't live up to its potential, let alone the title. Still, if you're in a mood for a laugh, it's worth watching once. PS: My mom says you might like it if you like raunchy comedies or just like to look at Zac's body! C-
