Jackass: Best and Last (2026)

​“Jackass: Best and Last” stars Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O, Chris Pontius, Wee Man, Preston Lacy, Dave England, “Danger Ehren” McGhehey, Sean “Poopies” McInerney, Zach Holmes, Jasper Dolphin, Rachel Wolfson, and Eric Manaka.  Released on June 26, 2026, the film follows the Jackass crew as they perform their stunts and pranks, both old and new.

The film was directed by Jeff Tremaine, best known for co-creating “Jackass” and helming “The Dirt”.  It is the fifth and final installment in the "Jackass" film series.  For 26 years, Johnny Knoxville and his crew have committed almost every dangerous and hilariously painful stunt imaginable that leaves audiences either giggling, wincing, puking, or all of the above.  Controversies be damned.  Despite lasting for three seasons on MTV, the “Jackass” crew has been keeping that pain train going with spin-offs, a couple of games, and best of all, feature films.  But like all popular franchises, there’s a time when all those “good” times must come to an end.  Of course, what better way to ride off into the sunset than with another big-screen outing that celebrates the good, the bad, and the highly excruciating?  We all thought that “Jackass Forever” was the last time we would see this insane crew, especially given Knoxville’s critical injuries from his "Magic Trick" stunt.  But as it turns out, he and the rest of his “daring” team have some mental juice left in their bodies to perform one last hurrah together, or in this case, one last “OUCH!”  Does this latest series of crazy stunts warrant depicting the franchise’s farewell or end up being one wince-inducing prank too many?  Let’s find out.

Similar to its previous installments, the movie consists of a compilation of stunts, skits, and pranks performed by Johnny Knoxville and his “Jackass” crew.  Joined by their new members from “Jackass Forever”, the team performs new, dangerous ideas that will continue to test their mental capacity and bravery, including a prostate exam from a robot named Larry.  Amid its new stunts, the film also revisits some of the crew’s best and hilariously painful moments from the franchise via archival footage, as they look back on the fond yet excruciating moments before bidding farewell to the times they shared. 

If someone were to ask me about my experience with the “Jackass” franchise, I would say I got the most out of the movies.  I thought I remembered watching one of the episodes of the television series years ago, but the first three films are the ones I recognize best.  I was hesitant about it at first because of its concept, but thanks to the film adaptations, I gradually grew to appreciate the franchise for taking bold risks with its uncensored raunchiness.  Plus, some of the pranks they performed were actually pretty funny, if not delightfully disgusting.  It was enough for me to check out “Jackass Forever” four years ago, and I thought it was the best of the film series so far.  When I found out about this film being the very last time we’ll see Knoxville and the crew, I figured, “Sure, why the hell not?”  It looks to be more of the same as before based on the trailers, but you know what they say: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.  Granted, the format is what made “Jackass” popular in the first place, so I’m happy to see that they left that alone, for better or worse.  As someone who watched its predecessors, I’m pleased to say that it’s for the better.

For those unfamiliar with the series and films, “Best and Last” is basically 90 minutes of Johnny Knoxville and his gang performing risky stunts that aren’t worth replicating in real life.  Before you ask, most of them involve them destroying their penises for the sake of entertainment.  The best way to watch this movie and the other “Jackass” cinematic outings is to worry less about the plot and just have fun laughing at their misery.  That’s what I did for this film, and I walked out of the theater satisfied and even cramped from all the laughing I did.  At the same time, it left me feeling sad that this is the last time we’ll see this crew together.  While I still feared for their lives, I couldn’t help but smile at how much fun they had performing these pranks for 26 years, due to their authentic chemistry.  With their time possibly coming to an end, it made sense that they wanted to finish off their saga with a literal bang, and they did just that.  Much like its predecessors, “Best and Last” is a crude, gross, and hilarious series of dumb choices that left me smiling from ear to ear and laughing maniacally at the pain it induced.

Would I say it’s just as good as “Jackass Forever”?  Well, yes and no.  It packs the same level of hilarity and “WTF” essence we’ve come to expect from “Jackass”, with some new stunts that I enjoyed more than others.  However, the concept also raises the question of whether it’s worth paying $13 to see it in theaters.  As I said, “Best and Last” not only showcases the brand-new stunts, like Steve-O’s prostate exam, but also includes some of the older ones from the franchise’s past and some never-before-seen footage, including the show’s unaired pilot.  Do you remember when shows aired their final episodes as “clip show” episodes to remind their viewers of the “good old days” before their farewells?  Well, “Best and Last” decided to bring that idea back as a way to remind fans of the best, or in this case, painful moments Knoxville and his team had.  By the way, I love that they brought back the “Silence of the Lambs” skit from “Jackass Forever”.  That was one of my favorite pranks of the entire “Jackass” saga, mainly because it was the only moment I remembered laughing the hardest at.

On the one hand, this “best of” compilation is a suitable way to share the crew’s fond memories of the franchise and to allow longtime fans to revisit their favorite stunt or prank on the big screen.  On the other hand, it also feels like an excuse for their inability to come up with any new ideas to meet the runtime criteria.  While I can see newcomers appreciating the older stunts they missed out on, I also can understand why fans would rather rewatch the previous “Jackass” movies for free to experience them again.  It’s not technically a bad idea from a filmmaking perspective, especially when they prove to be just as funny as they were before.  However, from a fan’s perspective, it would likely depend on how eager they are to pay money to watch them again in the theater.  Regardless, Jeff Tremaine continues to retain the franchise’s life support through his blend of slapstick comedy and reality cringe, as well as the faithfulness to the source material he created.  It was hard to imagine “Jackass” without Jeff Tremaine on board, given his experience with reality stunts, and “Best and Last” effortlessly proved this case further.

But what about the stunts they performed for the movie?  Well, as usual, they’re not only hysterical but also great reminders of how happy I am for not being as dumb as they are.  But, like the previous “Jackass” films, I have my personal favorites that I liked more than others.  Besides the “Silence of the Lambs” prank, I really enjoyed the “Dum Dum Game Part Deux” skit because of the “consequence” for getting an answer wrong.  The “Escape Room From Hell” stunt was also very funny, mainly because of the ending and the multiple heels slamming onto the person’s wiener.  It’s hard to imagine him taking a number one from all the damage that’s been done to his doodle.  Regarding the ones that I didn’t enjoy, it was tough to decide since I was having too much fun watching the cast do plenty of stupid stuff on camera.  If I were to choose, I would pick the “Pole Vault” stunt as the most forgettable.  It’s just a pole vault performed by a naked person, nothing too special about it.

Overall, “Jackass: Best and Last” offers one last hurrah for the Jackass crew with a “best of” compilation that’s both hysterical and even bittersweet.  This is another series of hilarious, extremely dangerous, and delightfully wince-inducing stunts we come to expect from the popular franchise that was initially seen as “too much” for television.  While it may not be worth the price of admission to rewatch certain moments they can revisit for free, the newer stunts and pranks showed that Johnny Knoxville and his team haven’t lost their touch in making audiences wince constantly or maybe even puke if they’re lucky.  Much like its predecessors, this movie isn’t suited for everybody, particularly those with weak stomachs and people who are appalled by their stupidity.  But for fans of the series and those in need of some dumb laughs, this is a fitting and entertaining farewell to one of the most daring reality shows to ever air on national television.  I may not be a massive fan of “Jackass” like everybody else, but I am glad I gave myself a chance to experience it before it concludes.  That is, unless they decide they have enough energy to keep going, but given Knoxville’s condition after the “Magic Trick” stunt from the previous film, I highly doubt it.  But hey, it was fun (and painful) while it lasted.
