"The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, and Woody Harrelson. Released on November 20, 2015, the film has Katniss Everdeen leading the rebellion against President Snow and the Capitol. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence, who also directed films such as I Am Legend and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire. It is based on the novel, "Mockingjay", by Suzanne Collins and serves as the fourth and final installment of the Hunger Games film series. Another book-turned-film franchise has come to an end and, as always, we get to say good-bye to the characters we know throughout the series. Most franchises usually end off with a bang and, occasionally, a sob, and this finale is no different. In fact, it is one of the best conclusions I've seen in a while. The cast delivered some great performances, including the marvelous Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss. It is really amazing to see how much her character has grown since the first film. The supporting cast also did a great job portraying their characters. As you might suggested, this film is a lot darker than the other installments because the games are now over and Katniss and her friends are fighting back against the Capitol, which leads to higher stakes. The director did a fantastic job at channeling the intensity and the reality of the dystopian city as they were caught in a war between the Capitol and the rebels. Speaking of intensity, it never lets up for 90 percent of the time. The action sequences were really entertaining and filmed very well. The political themes were handled beautifully with its screenplay and emotional depth. In fact, it had me in tears during a couple of scenes. The pacing is mostly consistent with its running time. The story can be a bit predictable at times, but as a guy who has never read the books, I was quite surprised at how it turned out, especially the ending (no spoilers). Overall, like many great conclusions to franchises such as Harry Potter, The Dark Knight, and The Lord of the Rings, "The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2" is a suburb and emotional ending to one of the best film franchises of the decade. With its marvelous performances, its strong use of intensity and political themes, and an emotional storyline, this is a powerful way to bring Katniss' story to a close. A lot of people worked really hard to bring this series to the big screen and I am extremely proud of their results. Fans of the book series and dystopian films should definitely check this film out. Oh, and for the ladies, make sure you bring tissues. A
