Welcome to another episode of moviemanMDG’s Movie Talk, where I talk about everything film-related. The 74th Golden Globe Awards airs on television tomorrow night, so for today’s episode, I will be showing off my brief predictions on who will take home the Golden Globe. After getting a chance to see such films as Jackie and La La Land, I knew that I was ready to redeem myself after getting less than ten out of the 27 categories correct at the Critics‘ Choice Awards. I was sooooo embarrassed during that day, but I had fun watching it nonetheless. For this predictions list, I will be listing off the Golden Globe nominees in each category, then I will give out my guesses on who will win and who might win. My guesses will depend on the films I’ve watched, my experience of watching the Critics’ Choice Awards, and, more importantly, my gut. I won’t be adding in my predictions for the television category, however, because I didn’t have the time to watch any of the shows that were nominated, except for the first few episodes of The People v. O.J. Simpson. That one was pretty darn good. So, let’s get to it. Best Motion Picture - Drama: -Hacksaw Ridge -Hell or High Water -Lion -Manchester by the Sea -Moonlight Will Win: Manchester by the Sea Might Win: Moonlight Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy -20th Century Women -Deadpool -Florence Foster Jenkins -La La Land -Sing Street Will Win: La La Land Might Win: Deadpool Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Drama: -Casey Affleck (Manchester by the Sea) -Joel Edgerton (Loving) -Andrew Garfield (Hacksaw Ridge) -Viggo Mortensen (Captain Fantastic) -Denzel Washington (Fences) Will Win: Casey Affleck Might Win: Denzel Washington Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama: -Amy Adams (Arrival) -Jessica Chastain (Miss Sloane) -Isabelle Huppert (Elle) -Ruth Negga (Loving) -Natalie Portman (Jackie) Will Win: Natalie Portman Might Win: Amy Adams Best Actor in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy: -Colin Farrell (The Lobster) -Ryan Gosling (La La Land) -Hugh Grant (Florence Foster Jenkins) -Jonah Hill (War Dogs) -Ryan Reynolds (Deadpool) Will Win: Ryan Reynolds Might Win: Ryan Gosling Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy: -Annette Bening (20th Century Women) -Lily Collins (Rules Don’t Apply) -Hailee Steinfeld (The Edge of Seventeen) -Emma Stone (La La Land) -Meryl Streep (Florence Foster Jenkins) Will Win: Emma Stone Might Win: Meryl Streep Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture: -Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) -Jeff Bridges (Hell or High Water) -Simon Helberg (Florence Foster Jenkins) -Dev Patel (Lion) -Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Nocturnal Animals) Will Win: Mahershala Ali Might Win: Jeff Bridges Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture: -Viola Davis (Fences) -Naomie Harris (Moonlight) -Nicole Kidman (Lion) -Octavia Spencer (Hidden Figures) -Michelle Williams (Manchester by the Sea) Will Win: Viola Davis Might Win: Naomie Harris Best Director: -Damien Chazelle (La La Land) -Tom Ford (Nocturnal Animals) -Mel Gibson (Hacksaw Ridge) -Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) -Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea) Will Win: Damien Chazelle Might Win: Kenneth Lonergan Best Screenplay: -Damien Chazelle (La La Land) -Tom Ford (Nocturnal Animals) -Barry Jenkins (Moonlight) -Kenneth Lonergan (Manchester by the Sea) -Taylor Sheridan (Hell or High Water) Will Win: La La Land Might Win: Manchester by the Sea Best Original Score: -Moonlight -La La Land -Arrival -Lion -Hidden Figures Will Win: La La Land Might Win: Moonlight Best Original Song: -Can’t Stop the Feeling (Trolls) -City of Stars (La La Land) -Faith (Sing) -Gold (Gold) -How Far I’ll Go (Moana) Will Win: City of Stars (La La Land) Might Win: How Far I’ll Go (Moana) Best Animated Feature Film: -Kubo and the Two Strings -Moana -My Life as a Zucchini -Sing -Zootopia Will Win: Zootopia Might Win: Kubo and the Two Strings Best Foreign Language Film: -Divines (France) -Elle (France) -Neruda (Chile) -The Salesman (Iran/France) -Toni Erdmann (Germany) Will Win: Elle Might Win: The Salesman So, clearly, I bet that La La Land is going win big at the Golden Globes just like it did with the Critics' Choice Awards. But I won't know for sure until I see the show myself. The 74th Golden Globe Awards will air tomorrow night at 5pm PST / 8pm EST on NBC and will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon. Let me know in the comments section if you're planning on watching the Golden Globes, and I'll see you on the next episode of Movie Talk.

I will definitely watch the Golden Globes and hell yes, La La Land will run away with plenty of awards in tow - just saw the film in the cinema a second time and still fell in love with it. I saw Elle in Downtown Milwaukee and I am betting it will win too - it's not your conventional revenge pic, to say the least. Anyway, nice predictions. I predicted mine last week.
